Local intelligence. Cloud when you want it.
The questions you ask an AI say a lot about you: your health, your money, your work, your plans. Glass Cloud AI keeps them on the PC you already own.
In Local mode, answers are written on your computer and your conversations never go out to the internet. Nothing is sent to an AI company unless you choose Cloud, and web lookups only happen when you turn them on. Ask questions, check facts, summarize documents and talk by voice. Away from your desk, your phone can use it too.
Windows release coming soonRapid Hardware and Mill Supply Co. opens at 8:00 AM on Sunday and closes at 6:00 PM. Three sources list the same hours. One directory listing shows 9:00 AM, so it may be out of date.
Example conversation. The store and its hours are made up for illustration.
One switch decides where your question goes.
Local mode keeps everything on your computer. Cloud mode sends a question to the provider you picked, using your own key. You can see which one is on at all times, in the top bar.
Runs on your PC
- Uses open models through Ollama, picked to fit your hardware.
- Works on an ordinary laptop. No graphics card required.
- No account, no subscription, no per-question cost.
- Web lookups use public sources that need no sign-up or API key.
Bring a bigger model
- Connect any OpenAI-compatible service: set the address, model and key.
- Switch back to Local with one click, mid-conversation.
- Your key stays encrypted on your PC.
- Useful for long documents and harder reasoning.
LOCAL never hands a question to the cloud on its own. If a local model can't answer, Glass Cloud AI says so.
Running about 10 minutes late. Go ahead and start without me, I'll catch up when I get there.
Answered by your PCThe AI on your PC, in your pocket.
Local AI usually means sitting at your desk. With Glass Cloud AI, your phone sends the question home, your PC does the work, and the answer comes back to your phone. Your phone needs no AI of its own and no cloud account, at home or on the go.
- No middleman. Your phone talks straight to your PC, over your home Wi‑Fi or through your own VPN when you're out. No Glass Cloud server sits in between.
- Only your network. Phone access answers devices on your home network, including ones connected through your VPN, and nothing on the open internet.
- Feels like an app. Add it to your home screen and it opens with the Glass Cloud icon. You stay signed in.
- Ready after a restart. Glass Cloud AI can start with Windows, so you don't have to be at the PC to bring it back.
- One history. Chats from your phone are saved on your PC with the rest, and Incognito works there too.
What you need: Glass Cloud AI running on your PC. At home, your phone just needs to be on the same network. Away from home, add a VPN into your home network, such as WireGuard.
The everyday jobs, done carefully.
Checks facts on the web
Store hours, prices, software versions, who runs what. It reads the sources, compares them, and names the one that disagrees.
Says when it isn't sure
If the sources don't back an answer, you get "couldn't verify" and where to look. It won't guess and present the guess as fact.
Summarizes your files
Drag a PDF or Word document into the chat and ask for a summary, the key dates, or what changed.
Talks and listens
Dictate a question instead of typing it, and have answers read back to you.
Writes and rewrites
Emails, notes and plain-language edits. Plan a trip, compare two options, or have something explained.
Weather, headlines, nearby
Ask for this weekend's forecast, local and national headlines, or the closest branch of a store near a town.
Your conversations stay on your computer.
Encrypted on disk
Chats, settings and keys are stored in an encrypted database, locked to your Windows account.
Incognito chats ● Incognito · not saved
Start a chat that is never written to disk. Close it and it's gone.
See every web request
The Network Activity panel lists each site the app contacted and when. Nothing runs in the background.

Pick the model that fits your PC.
The model is the part of Glass Cloud AI that reads your question and writes the answer. Bigger models write better and reason more carefully, but they need more memory and run slower on an ordinary PC. Glass Cloud AI suggests one that fits your hardware, and you can change it any time under Models.
What a model is
- A language engine. It understands what you typed and writes a reply in plain language.
- A file on your PC. In Local mode it runs entirely on your computer, with no internet needed to write an answer.
- Swappable. You can download several and switch between them. Your chats and settings stay the same.
What a model isn't
- Not an encyclopedia. Its knowledge stops when it was made, and it can misremember. That's why Glass Cloud AI checks facts against live sources instead of trusting the model.
- Not learning from you. It doesn't train on your chats or send them anywhere. Your history is stored by the app, encrypted on your PC.
- Not the whole app. Web lookups, source checks, file reading, voice and phone access are Glass Cloud AI's job. The model writes the words.

- 16 GB RAM
- Speed on CPU
- Moderate
- Answer depth

about 12B parameters and up- Memory
- 32 GB RAM, or a graphics card
- Speed on CPU
- Slow

Long documents, careful reasoning and more natural writing, if your PC can carry it.
Cloud
runs on your provider's servers- Memory
- Any PC
- Speed
- Fast, needs internet
- Answer depth
- Strongest
The hardest questions. Your question leaves your PC, and your provider may charge for use.
Check your memory
In Windows, open Settings, then System, then About, and look at Installed RAM. 8 GB suits Small, 16 GB suits Medium, 32 GB or more suits Large.
Try it for a day
Answers too slow? Step down one size. Answers too thin? Step up one size, or switch to Cloud for that one question.
Check for a graphics card
A graphics card with 8 GB or more of its own memory makes models much faster, and one size up is usually comfortable.
B stands for billions of parameters, a rough measure of a model's size. Memory figures are typical for Ollama's standard downloads. Every model gets the same fact checks: a smaller one is simply more likely to say "couldn't verify" than to guess.
